VIDEO: Oscar winner Jon Landau stops by a preview of Pandora, Disney's 'Avatar' land

Oscar-winning film producer Jon Landau stopped by a media sneak preview of Pandora, the new land at Disney's Animal Kingdom based on the film Avatar.

RIDES AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH: From Avatar to Harry Potter, theme parks now take you inside the movies

"This is the first time I've been about to experience Pandora in a tactile way," Landau said Friday, surprising a group of journalists and bloggers who had come to get a look at the new park. Landau produced both Titanic and Avatar with director James Cameron.

At the attraction, guests will be able to walk beneath Pandora's floating mountains, see exotic glowing plants and animals and take a ride on the back of a flying banshee in the Valley of Mo'ara. The glowing land of the blue Na'vi people has been under construction since 2014 and cost of $500 million, theme park experts estimate.

Pandora opens to the public May 27 at Animal Kingdom.

Dear god, I love Ron Howard movies. All of them. Especially Cocoon and Night Shift in the '80s. Particularly The Paper, which is the most accurate comedy I've seen about the newspaper biz. And even Rush, which I was sad to learn was not about the band but instead about Formula 1 …

I first came out over a decade ago, early in the torments of middle school and deep in the cornfields of suburban Indiana. To say I was lacking classmates who were out and local queer role models — let alone national ones — feels like an understatement. The school and public libraries offered few LGBTQ …
