MR. DESPACITO: Luis Fonsi

Moving to Florida at 10 wasn't easy for Luis Fonsi. "I had to leave behind my family, friends, my school, the girl that I love that was finally paying attention to me," the Puerto Rican singer said in a recent email. "It was a challenge at first, but soon after, I learned to appreciate having to experience both cultures, which ultimately made me the person I am today." That person happens to be the co-writer and singer of the year's biggest signature pop hit, and one of the biggest singles of all time: Despacito. This year's song of the summer has made Fonsi a household name in America — even though he's spent 20 years as one in the world of Latin pop, winning Latin Grammys and performing for popes and presidents. "It keeps you humbled," he said of his sudden crossover success. "I'm grateful this came now, when I'm more mature and have both feet on the ground, so I am able to appreciate every single thing without taking it for granted." 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20. Ruth Eckerd Hall, 1111 N McMullen-Booth Road, Clearwater. $53.25 and up. (727) 791-7400. rutheckerdhall.com.

ONE TRAP MIND: 2 Chainz

Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, the latest album by 2 Chainz, checks all the boxes of a modern hip-hop hit. A-list cameos by Drake, Gucci Mane and Nicki Minaj? Check. Appearances by omnipresent youngsters Swae Lee and Migos? Check. A big radio hit? That's debatable, although the funky, sultry It's a Vibe is, indeed, quite the vibe. Still, 2 Chainz has enough hits in his stable — including last year's cookout staple No Problem with Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne — that his show at 9 p.m. Friday at Jannus Live, 200 First Ave. N, St. Petersburg, is bound to be a party. $42.50 and up. GRAB A SEAT: Bleachers

Is Jack Antonoff the most influential pop figure of 2017? He produced and co-wrote Lorde's acclaimed new album Melodrama. He produced and co-wrote Taylor Swift's new No. 1 single Look What You Made Me Do. And he's co-producing St. Vincent's new album Masseducation, one of fall's most anticipated alt-rock albums. In the middle of all that, he's got a third album by his solo pop-rock project Bleachers, Gone Now, featuring the surging single Don't Take the Money. Between all that and his role as one of the wokest bros in pop culture, you can forgive Antonoff for slacking on Fun. Catch Bleachers with Tove Styrke at 7 p.m. Saturday at Jannus Live, 200 First Ave. N, St. Petersburg. $27 and up. (727) 565-0550. jannuslive.com.

    Sometimes, the more time you have with a project, the more complicated it gets. I started hearing about Mortar & Pestle in Seminole Heights about 18 months ago. It was the vision of Ujwal Patel, a pharmacist;
