AL WHO? ALFRESCO IN GULFPORT

White tablecloths, china, glassware and full table service in the middle of Beach Boulevard. Could get messy. Reservations are now being accepted for the first Gulfport Chefs Table, an outdoor fine dining experience set for Monday (rain date Oct. 10) from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will highlight Gulfport's thriving food scene and feature the offerings of nine local restaurants and chefs at a long community table set up in the center of Beach Boulevard in Gulfport's historic Waterfront District.

Participating restaurants have created four-course prix-fixe menus, and diners may choose any of the nine menus being offered, ranging in price from $40 to $80 per person, plus tax. Prices include wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages. Participating restaurants are Boca Bay Grille, Fish Bar and Grille, Mangia Gourmet, Neptune Grill, O'Maddy's and Smokin' J's BBQ. FESTIVAL TIME: REEL GOOD BEER

New Belgium Brewing's annual Clips Beer & Film Tour is coming to St. Petersburg on Friday. This free event, now in its seventh year, features short films and a selection of small-batch beers with 100 percent of the proceeds from beer sales going to Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful and Morean Center for Clay. In total, Clips has raised more than $659,000 for nonprofits since its inception. The event kicks off at Morean Center for Clay at 7:30 p.m., with the films starting at 9:30 p.m.

"This year is actually New Belgium's 25th anniversary, so we're doing things a little differently," said Christie Catania, Clips national special events manager. "We asked 10 filmmakers to incorporate the year 1991 into their film, as a way to salute the year that New Belgium got its start. The films do a great job of bringing us back to the glory days of big hair, questionable fashion and outdated technology."

In addition to a night of films under the stars, Clips offers a venue where guests can try New Belgium's most esoteric beer offerings. Many of New Belgium's Lips of Faith beers can be hard to come by, and Clips offers the best way to try them. Seventeen varieties, from Lips of Faith to brewery classics, will be available in 3-ounce samples ($1.50), 12-ounce pours ($6) or cans. Bring low chairs or blankets, as well as identification. Dogs welcome. Picnics welcome and food vendors include Maggie on the Move, the Twisted Iron and the Twisted Indian. newbelgium.com.

SAVE THE DATE: TASTE OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP

The Taste of the Championship evening benefits the College Football Playoff Foundation's primary philanthropic initiative, Extra Yard for Teachers. Tickets are limited, so local foodies should reserve their spot in advance.
