Salvador Dalí Museum Guild hosts Suenos de Dalí

10.13.2012

One never knows what the imaginative people at the Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg will dream up next, but dream they did at the second annual Suenos de Dalí, which featured luxury cars from presenting sponsor Bert Smith Porsche, images projected onto the facade of the building and dozens of amazing costumes.

The title means Dreams of Dalí and planners focused on the artist's use of time in some of his works, with chimes sounding and models whose faces were made up to look like clocks circulating through the crowd of more than 300.

Throughout the evening, patrons were treated to flamenco performers, fire dancers, jazz from Nate Najar and Theo Valentine, food and even signature "Mad Mustache" cocktails.

Emmanuel and Montserrat Cerf chaired the event committee, which comprised members of the museum's guild, and docents were stationed in the galleries to explain works in the permanent collection and in the current exhibition, "The Royal Inheritance."

"It was a beautiful night," development director Molly James said, and toward the end of the evening, a number of guests sat outdoors, taking in the music and the water views.
