The Hen House offers 'something for everybody'

RECOMMENDED READING

CARROLLWOOD — Three years ago, longtime friends Shannon Ater, Anna Richardson and Molly Voth began talking about opening up a communal space where women could get together, but they have Ater's mother to thank for coming up with the name. The Hen House was created to be a gathering place for women, and the friends felt the name was perfect.

"It just really fit," Ater said.

The Hen House opened on April 29, and it offers many things under one roof. It is part retail boutique, floral shop, DIY and creative workshop, and a cozy and welcoming place to just relax.

"Truly, we just love the art of community," Richardson said. "That's why we started our Hen House."

The trio of crafty women designed and decorated the store themselves, using repurposed furniture and fixtures. There is a creative workshop area that has large tables for classes such as calligraphy, jewelry making, painting, and floral design and arranging. A fully stocked craft bar has supplies for anyone who wants to come in a work on a project or create something unique.

There is a large retail boutique that offers clothing, jewelry, home decor, accessories, and gifts, and the floral shop stocks fresh flowers, bouquets, and arrangements.

The Hen House also accommodates private parties for occasions such as birthdays and wedding and baby showers. "There's something for everybody in our store," said Richardson.

The Hen House is located at 11730 N Dale Mabry Highway. For more information, call 813-264-4367, or visit thehh.com.
