Bollywood playback superstar Arijit Singh coming to Amalie Arena in Tampa
Here's an arena concert announcement you won't see every day.
Arijit Singh, a superstar Indian playback singer -- those are the artists who provide the actual vocals for wildly popular Bollywood musical films -- is headlining Tampa's Amalie Arena on April 8. Tickets are $39 and up, and they're on sale now. Click here for details.
Singh's show is further proof of the popularity of Indian culture in Tampa. You remember, of course, the International Indian Film Academy Awards, a.k.a. the Bollywood Oscars, which took over Tampa in the spring of 2014. But there have also been occasional headlining concerts by playback stars like Shreya Ghoshal, who last year headlinined the USF Sun Dome.
While American audiences might not know Singh, he's a famously entertaining live performer whose song Tum Hi Ho was an enormous Indian hit. Given how infrequently he performs in America, if you're a fan of Indian pop music, this should be a show not to miss.
