As we've reported before, local artists the Vitale Brothers are working on a Mini Lights "skater horror film" based on the urban legend involving St. Petersburg's Booker Creek, a witch and little green creatures that come out after dark.

They've been raising funds for that movie through a Seed&Spark campaign, and this week they're making a final push in the crowdfunding site's Hometown Heroes Rally contest aimed at helping developing filmmakers make a movie rooted in their local community.

Dozens of filmmakers are competing, and the ten projects that reached their funding goals and have the most followers at the end of the day today will get a chance to pitch their movie to the Duplass Brothers, the indie-darling production team of Mark and Jay Duplass, aka the guys behind the films Puffy Chair, Jeff Who Lives at Home and The Skeleton Twins as well as the HBO series Togetherness and Animals.

The Duplass Brothers will executive produce their favorite project that is pitched to them, and the filmmakers will get $25,000 in funding.

Mini Lights has already reached its funding goal, but it's currently hovering just outside the top ten in followers. If you want to check out the campaign, visit the Mini Lights page on Seed&Spark. You can watch their latest video explaining the project below.
