Los Angeles assumed the role of Gotham City for a night with a giant Bat-Signal glowing against City Hall on Thursday.

The light in the sky ceremony was in tribute to the original "Batman" Adam West, who played the caped crusader in the 1960s TV series. West died last week at 88.

It wasn't just the iconic circle of light with a bat shaped silhouette that helped transform LA - hundreds of fans, some even in costume, gathered around City Hall. And when Mayor Eric Garcetti and Police Chief Charlie Beck turned on the signal, everyone cheered.
