A young Drew Barrymore in E.T.

Hello, July. The month for celebrating our country's birthday, but also, apparently, the month for Netflix to drop some amazing movies and TV shows into their streaming lineup. Sure, there's probably plenty to do outside on Saturday, but it's so much cooler - literally - to stay in and binge these new offerings available on Saturday.

Titanic: Our hearts will forever go on for this 1997 romantic drama about the sinking of the Titanic starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial: One of the few alien movies to come out of the '80s that didn't involve face-huggers or chest-bursting alien babies, just an adorable lost creature who befriends a young boy.

The Land Before Time I-III: If you didn't cry when Little Foot loses his mom to a Sharptooth and an earthquake, you are wrong. Also, Spike is the real MVP.

The Mighty Ducks: It's been more than 20 years since the debut of the ragtag Mighty Ducks hockey team and it still holds up as one of the best sports flicks of all time.

Free Willy: Another tear-jerker involving animals, this time with an orphaned boy befriending a captive orca and eventually setting him free. We aren't crying, you're crying.

Paula Echevarria and Miguel Angel Silvestre star in Velvet.

As everyone knows, the best part of most if not all period dramas is the costumes — which is why we also call them costume dramas.

One of the this we love most about the re-creation of any number of bygone eras is the glamor they held, real or imagined.

But period dramas about fashion? Those reach a whole new height.

Here are seven period dramas that bring all the glamor.Full Story

Kendall Jenner, left, and Kylie Jenner apologized Thursday for "vintage" T-shirts superimposing their images with those of famous musicians, including Ozzy Osbourne, Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.

The Jenners are at it again.

The latest bizarre decision by the reality stars involves Tupac Shakur, the Notorious B.I.G. and Ozzy Osbourne. Wait, what?

Right, so, just a fews months after Kendall's Pepsi commerical controversery, she and her sister released a T-Shirt line through their label featuring images of the Tupac, Biggie and Ozzy with pictures of themselves layered over the top.

The sisters began selling the "vintage" shirts online Wednesday for $125 each.

That's when the internet, Biggie's mother, Voletta Wallace and Ozzy's wife, Sharon Osbourne, called the sisters out for disrespect. Full Story

Coming to Hulu in July: 'Misery,' 'Rosemary's Baby,' nine 'Star Trek' movies and more

William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

Hulu normally sits in second place when it comes to original programming -- except for The Handmaid's Tale, which is at the top of my list for best TV of the year. But this month it makes a grab for first with a slew of top-notch movies and TV shows added to its streaming list.

Flashdance: This 1983 romantic flick is making a comeback after last week's viral video of a gorilla dancing to the movie's hit song Maniac.

The Mask: Four-year-old me was partly amused and partly terrified watching Jim Carrey become an insane alter-ego of the Norse god Loki via a putrid green mask.

Misery: There are so many solid Stephen King movies, and Misery is one where the monster isn't supernatural, but rather Kathy Bates as an obsessive fan of a famous author. That ankle-breaking scene, though. *shudders*

Rosemary's Baby: To be honest, the scariest parts of this movie explore the extreme lack of control women had (and still don't have) over their bodies in the 1960s. But in all seriousness, this horror flick has just enough claustrophobic tension and just enough spooks without being cheesy. …

Lin-Manuel Miranda's viral #Ham4All challenge has celebs singing 'Hamilton'

AP

The love for Hamilton is still alive and well.

Lin-Manuel Miranda launched a campaign on Twitter, asking fans to donate to the Immigrants: We Get the Job Done Coalition for a chance to win tickets to the opening night performance of Hamilton in Los Angeles in honor of Immigrant Heritage Month.

The viral #Ham4All campaign, much like the ice bucket challenge, asks you to sing a song from the hit musical and challenge someone else to donate.

Miranda has no shortage of famous admirers, and the #ham4All thread inspired some of Hollywood's most notable stars to get involved.

Most recently, the cast and crew of The Beguiled filmed their own rendition of The Schuyler Sisters, and yes, Nicole Kidman makes a cameo.

Hamilton's own King George, Broadway star Jonathan Groff, filmed a duet with Miranda and sang Angelica's part in Satisfied.

A scene from the proof of concept trailer for a mini lights movie.

Perhaps you've heard of the "mini lights." The tales can vary a bit, but generally, they're said to be nasty little creatures controlled by a witch that once lived near Booker Creek. They come out after dark to "get you."

Plenty of locals have heard the creepy urban legend rooted in south St. Petersburg. Some even believe in it, as we explored in a 2016 story. And if local mural artist Johnny Vitale of the Vitale Brothers has his way, a lot more people will soon know about them too.

He's working to produce a movie based on the mini lights legend, and just released this proof of concept trailer to kick off a crowdfunding campaign to help make it happen.

Text posted with the video calls it, "A suspenseful horror about disappearances, voodoo, and cursed spirits that will punish any who dare trespass on their land."

"The Vitale Brothers and a crew of the best film makers in town are ready to scare the hell out of you," says the Indiegogo description of the project. The campaign's goal is at $100,000 over the next two months.

'Big Bang Theory' star Johnny Galecki loses home to California wildfire

AP

Johnny Galecki, star of the Big Bang Theory, lost his ranch to a large California fire.

First reported by TMZ, Galecki was not home at the time of the fire, and hasn't been to the property yet to assess the damages.

The San Luis Obispo ranch, located 190 miles outside of Los Angeles, is not Galecki's primary residence.

The blaze, which began around 3:30 p.m., swept through 1,598 acres and is now 65 percent contained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Galecki remained in good spirits.

"My heart goes out to all in the area who are also experiencing loss from this vicious fire. The threat of which we live with constantly, which may seem crazy to some but we do so because living in our beautiful, rural area makes it worthwhile," Galecki said in a statement to TMZ. "It's never the structures that create a community -- it's the people. And if the people of Santa Margarita have taught me anything it's that, once the smoke has cleared, literally and figuratively, it's a time to reach out and rebuild. We've done it before and we'll need to do it together again. And it will make our community even closer and stronger." …

Taylor Swift congratulates Russell Westbrook on MVP Award

AP

Taylor Swift has come out of her social media hiding to congratulate Russell Westbrook on winning his first NBA MVP award.

Swift partnered up with the Thunder to make a Twitter video where she joked about the two being best friends.

"Russell, it's Taylor. Remember? I was the one who taught you how to play basketball?" she said. In reality, the two have never met.

"We go back 20 years. Actually, we've never met. That's a fake story, but I wish it were the truth. You are amazing. You're the MVP. I'm so happy for you."

The world was pretty surprised to see Swift back online, considering she has been off the grid for most of 2017, her last public appearance was back in February.

Plenty of NBA fans weren't on board with the shoutout from Swift, "shes never watched a basketball game in her life," said one user.

shes never watched a basketball game in her life

Only thing I'm shaking off is the cringe from watching this video

We just took an L for this. Delete immediately.

But what those fans might not know is that Westbrook is one of Swift's biggest fans.

Felicity Jones in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Just when I think Netflix has outdone itself with new releases and originals, it surprises me with another month of superb offerings coming to the streaming site.

It's officially summer, and Florida is hotter than Hades, so you best stay inside and watch these gems instead.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial: A few years after Sigourney Weaver battled homicidal Xenomorphs in Alien, Steven Spielberg released a much friendlier alien movie. No chest-bursting or face-huggers, but all the extra-terrestrial charm. July 1

Titanic: The epic historical romantic drama that made us terrified of boats while also getting us to fall in love with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. The film also has one of the best movie soundtracks of all time. Don't @ me. July 1

Castlevania Season 1: Though based on one of the more obscure video game franchises, Castlevania still has plenty of lore to build up a solid TV series. Come on, there are vampires! July 7

Lion: This Oscar-nominated gem of a film is one of the most heartbreaking, inspiring and beautiful films I have ever seen. It's based on a true story, and if you're not crying by the end you have no soul. July 9

Super Nintendo is coming back to stores, and there's even a new (old) game

Super Nintendo plans to release the Super NES Classic Edition.

Nintendo

Super Nintendo plans to release the Super NES Classic Edition.

If the overwhelming success of last year's NES Classic is any indication, you may want to get your hands on Nintendo's newly-announced Super NES Classic as soon as it becomes available this fall.

The company announced today that the modernized, mini version of the Super Nintendo will go on sale Sept. 29, and come loaded with 21 pre-installed games for $79.99.

Among the many classic titles such as F-ZERO and Super Mario Kart will be the never-before-released Star Fox 2, the follow up to the 1993 smash hit Star Fox, which is also part of the package.

Nintendo last year released the NES Classic, a similarly modernized version of the Nintendo Entertainment System that debuted in 1985, and saw it almost instantly sell out in stores around the world. Nintendo was never quite able to meet the demand, and discontinued the console in April. The company told gaming blog Kotaku that it plans to produce significantly more quantities of the Super NES Classic.

The 16-bit Super Nintendo Entertainment System was originally released in 1991. The new version can be hooked up to a modern TV via an HDMI cable, Nintendo said.

Here's the full list of games:

What to watch this week: Catch these titles before they leave Netflix in July

Michael Keaton as the Dark Knight in 1989's Batman.

It's been less than a week since summer officially started, and I don't know about you, but I'm more than ready for cooler weather to get here. It's too hot outside to function (looking at you, 116 degree Arizona), but Netflix has us covered with a boatload of new TV shows and movies coming in July. Unfortunately, that means we have to say goodbye to quite a few titles this month. Make time for one last watch before these titles leave Netflix on Saturday.

Batman: Tim Burton's 1989 hit - starring Michael Keaton as the Dark Knight and Jack Nicholson as the Joker - set the tone for all future Batman flicks.

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes: The 1953 film based on the musical featured Marilyn Monroe singing the iconic song Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend.

Hello, Dolly: Another musical film, this time from 1969 and starring Barbara Streisand. Fun fact: Songs Elegance and Put on Your Sunday Clothes can be heard throughout the day on Main Street at Walt Disney World.

Death Beach: From the Smithsonian Channel, the documentary explores the bloody legacy of South Africa's Second Beach, which is home to some of the worst shark attacks in history. Just in time for Shark Week! …
