Where were you the day the Bucs won their first game?

Forty years ago, Dec. 11, 1977, the historically hapless 0-26 Bucs beat the Saints in New Orleans for the first win in franchise history. It was one of those special moments in Tampa Bay sports history, a day and night worth retelling.

Where were you?

We're reaching out to Bucs fans from back then. How did it feel? What did it mean? Maybe you were among the estimated 8,000 fans who went to hail the conquering heroes, crowding the team facility and the returning buses after the team's plane arrived back in Tampa.

We want to hear from you and your memories. Photos from that night are great, too!

We'd like to publish them if possible, either in print or on-line.

Please email me at mfennelly@tampabay.com and our sports editor Mike Sherman at msherman@tampabay.com. Be sure to include your first and last name and where you live for publication and — not for publication, your contact information (phone number) — if we want to reach  out to you.

And, by the way, if you were the dude in the picture above, in your painted pickup, banging that drum, we would REALLY like to have a conversation with you.

We look forward to hearing from all of you.

‘Hello, I must be going.’ The state of the Florida seven
