  1. PolitiFact: Was NAFTA 'worst trade deal ever'?

    Perspective

When Donald Trump talked trade during the first presidential debate, he was working from turf that has served him well. No other issue matches it for distilling the frustrated dreams of millions of Americans.

President Bill Clinton signed a side deal to NAFTA in 1993 after President George H.W. Bush negotiated and signed the original deal. Experts on trade tend to see NAFTA as not so bad. The bigger job-killer has been U.S. trade with China.

They only had the one axe.

It was how the friends often ended their offseason workouts. They were young, star baseball pitchers with the world there for the taking. They'd swing with all their might at a tree stump near their practice field, or at tall trees beyond the outfield fence at Alonso High School. They …

  4. Who is a better friend of the Everglades, Rubio or Murphy?

    State Roundup

TALLAHASSEE — For all their differences on national issues, how Republican Marco Rubio and Democrat Patrick Murphy handle one uniquely Florida issue — pollution from Lake Okeechobee — could have a profound impact on the future of the state.

  5. Hurricane Matthew grows into Category 4 storm; aims for Jamaica

    Hurricanes

TAMPA — It's the strongest storm to threaten the sunshine state since Hurricane Wilma clawed its way through the Atlantic 11 years ago, but whether Hurricane Matthew will unleash the same carnage on Florida or avoid the state all together remains to be seen.

It's the strongest storm to threaten the sunshine state since Hurricane Wilma clawed its way through the Atlantic 11 years ago, but whether Hurricane Matthew will unleash the same carnage on Florida or avoid the state all together remains to be seen. Matthew grew into a Category 4 storm Friday night as it crossed the Caribbean Sea on a course that could have it pounding Jamaica within days.

  9. Denver Broncos-Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Mike Evans vs. Broncos cornerbacks could be decided by hand-fighting

    Bucs

TAMPA — There was a time when Mike Evans was known for having a big body and a bigger mouth. While he still likes to talk on the field, defensive backs aren't responding because they're too worried about being beaten by the Bucs' receiver.
